But that's not all: I'm currently working full-time on project 'Overlap' which will be revealed in 2023.

I won't promise you any utopic metaverse, web3 revolution or roadmap with 'Overlap' because we all know how many promises of this kind have been kept. But what I can promise is that 'Overlap' will be a solid project and that it's being developed with heart and soul - just like Faulty Flowers.

The Project

Becoming proactive for a better tomorrow

Who?

Hi, my name is Dan and I'm a 3D-artist and game developer from Germany.

I've spent a lot of time doing ads and contract work for well known companies and brands. I consider myself as a generalist because I'm very interested in a lot of different topics, ranging from 3D-modeling to game development and therefore I never specialized in any particular discipline.
There's a lot of diversity in the contract work that I do, but working for clients is only one part of the equation.

A few years ago I noticed that something in my mind fundamentally changed and I started to become restless when I thought about how climate change affects our lives and especially the future of our children. I reflected on my personal role in the overall picture and it became very clear to me that I wanted to use my skills to do something good and meaningful.

In 2022 I finally decided to start working on the one man project called 'Faulty Flowers' and began coding a generative 3D art tool. Once this was done, I worked on the 3D models and created about 200 individual assets for the collection. Finally I created a minting-dapp and a website for the project.

It was a huge amount of work but now that it's done I honestly hope Faulty Flowers puts a smile on your face and brings some more awareness to the biggest challenge in human history: climate change.

Why?

To keep it simple: We are the only species that is actively destroying their habitat. This is something that concerns me on a daily basis.

Climate change affects all of us and the time to save our future is now. Scientific consensus tells us there's not much time left to act and that the time window is rapidly closing before we reach tipping points of irreversible changes to our ecosystems.

I'm fully aware of the fact that there's no simple solution to solve the challenges humanity is facing. Just planting trees won't save the world and we need to come up with multiple effective approaches at the same time.
But here's a thing: Planting trees is a start and it's a scientifically proven way to remove CO2 from the atmosphere.
Countering deforestation with reforestation is a smart way to become proactive and it has a huge symbolic power that may inspire people to engage in climate protection.

We have only one earth and we should do our best to preserve it for future generations. We depend on our planet, and our planet depends on us.

The Ethereum blockchain has always been well known for it's gigantic energy consumption. But in September 2022 the developers replaced the old and energy hungry 'proof of work' by a very climate friendly 'proof of stake' method in an event called 'the merge'.
According to the developers and independent sources, the energy consumption of the Ethereum blockchain has been cut by 99 - 99,9% since then.
Because of it's powerful reforestation features and the drastically lowered energy consumption of the blockchain, Faulty Flowers removes many times more CO2 from the atmosphere than it emits.

Minting will start in May 2023.

'Overlap' will be revealed in 2023 and I can't give you any further information on the project, so please be patient.

Faulty Flowers is a one man project and managing such a project requires a lot of time and effort. It's just not possible for me as a solo artist and developer to be present on multiple social media channels at the same time with the same amount of effort. I chose twitter as my primary communication tool because of it's usability and hope to see you there!

Flowers are a well known symbol for optimism, love, hope, life and nature in lots of different cultures across the globe.
I don't know one single person that doesn't like flowers and my intention was to present the beauty of our nature with cute (and sometimes grumpy) looking flowers.

Good question! It's absolutely impossible to live without any CO2 emissions but I do my best to reduce them as effective as I can.
So I don't have a car (not even a driver's license!), I don't go by plane and I try to cut unnecessary activities that put strain on the environment.
Moreover I rely on local and seasonal fruits and veggies and have drastically lowered meat consumption.

This is so 2021. I suggest using a bike or public transportation instead.
